    1. For NUMed graduates who applied for UKFP 2019, only about half of them managed to get it. UKFP 2019 was subject to RLMT, which meant that places must first be offered to UK and EU citizens and only the remaining places could be offered to non-UK non-EU citizens. Besides, there was an unusually high number of applicants for UKFP 2019. Attempts were made to increase the number of places, but it was still not sufficient.

For NUMed graduates who applied for UKFP 2020, vast majority of them got it successfully. Starting from UKFP 2020, it is no longer subject to RLMT, so non-UK non-EU citizens can be considered on equal footing with UK and EU citizens. The number of applicants for UKFP 2020 was also significantly lower compared to UKFP 2019.

  2. Daniel, as far as you know, roughly how many percent of Numed medical students fail their exams and need to repeat the year from year 1 to year 5 for past few years and also how many percent of the Numed medical students drop out due to failure from year 1 to year 5 for past few years? Thanks

    1. In the old curriculum, students failing year 1, 2 or 4 can just resit the exams, while students failing year 3 or 5 have to repeat the year. In the new curriculum, students failing any year can resit the exams without repeating the year.

On average, about 10% of the students fail each year. Among those who resit the exams or repeat the year, majority of them do pass. Usually, about 1 or 2 students fail the second time and end up dropping out.

I was one of those who failed year 5 in 2019 and had to repeat the whole year. I managed to pass the repeat year and I graduated in 2020.

  3. Daniel, dont be disheartened just because you failed your stage 5 in 2019. I know some of well known medical specialist who also failed their MBBS and needed to repeat another 1 year but they work hard and become very successful in the carrier later in their life. Just work hard and you will be successful in future.

    1. Don't worry, I was never disheartened by my failure in Stage 5. In fact, it was a blessing in disguise for me.
