In 2026, I have 5 months of summer break between 5 May 2026 and 5 October 2026, after the end of my Medical Officer placement at Klinik Kesihatan Ibu dan Anak (KKIA) Limbang.
On 5 May 2026, I flew back from Sarawak to Kuala Lumpur. That week, I completed the data analysis for my research project on late antenatal booking in Limbang district. On 7 May 2026, I attended an online interview for my application for a Trainee Lecturer post. The interview questions were fairly easy and I felt I answered them quite well. On that afternoon, I finished watching Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
On 9 May 2026, I returned to my hometown in Kulim. At that time, I was busy doing revision for the Diploma in Child Health (DCH) Clinical exam. The DCH Clinical exam was held online on 20 May 2026. There weren't any technical issues during the online exam and I managed to complete it. I found the exam moderately difficult and I was cautiously optimistic of passing it.
On 21 May 2026, I found out that my application for a permanent Medical Officer (MO) post which I made back in March 2026 was successful. I received the offer letter on 25 May 2026. At that time, I began writing the manuscript for my research project. I also began preparing the presentation slides for my NUMed MMC & GMC Talk.
By 2 June 2026, I had completed the first draft of the research manuscript. My NUMed MMC & GMC Talk was held online on 6 June 2026. I explained about the career pathways and opportunities of NUMed medical students and graduates. On 7 June 2026, I got the statutory declaration and health examination done for my permanent MO post.
On 17 June 2026, I upgraded my Pixel 6A phone to Android 17. On that evening, the DCH Clinical exam results were released, and I successfully passed it. I scored the bare minimum marks required to pass the exam, which was really a lucky escape. With that, I had attained the Diploma in Child Health (DCH).
On 22 June 2026, I was informed that I was successful in my application for the Trainee Lecturer post. It was my first time receiving an offer for a lecturer post, after 10 consecutive unsuccessful applications previously. However, following thorough considerations, I decided to decline the Trainee Lecturer post offer and to accept the permanent MO post offer instead.
On 26 June 2026, I received confirmation that I am eligible to join the Hadiah Latihan Persekutuan (HLP) for the Graduate Certificate in Family Medicine - Advanced Training in Family Medicine (GCFM-ATFM) programme as a permanent MO. On that evening, I had an online meeting with my friends at KKIA Limbang regarding the research project.
On the following week, I underwent another health examination for the HLP. I received my results letter for the DCH Clinical exam on 2 July 2026. On 3 July 2026, I was informed that my research project had not been granted ethical approval and that revisions had to be made to the submission.
On 15 July 2026, I finally received my DCH certificate. I resubmitted my research project for ethical approval on 20 July 2026. On 28 July 2026, the ePlacement for my permanent MO post was open, where I selected my preferred Klinik Kesihatan (KK). On 12 August 2026, my research project was finally granted ethical approval.
On 13 August 2026, I watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day. On 20 August 2026, I found out that I had been allocated to Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah (PKD) Kulim as a permanent MO. On 21 August 2026, I finished watching Old & Dangerous. On 7 September 2026, I watched The Odyssey. I watched Dear You on 17 September 2026.
On 18 September 2026, I finished watching Brighter Days. On 22 September 2026, Pejabat Kesihatan Bahagian (PKB) Limbang held a quality meeting. I attended it online and updated them on the progress of the research project. Subsequently, I had another online meeting with my friends at KKIA Limbang regarding the research project.
On 25 September 2026, I watched Supergirl. On 27 September 2026, my close friend from Kluang came to Kulim to meet up with me. He brought me to Cecil Street Food Court in Penang for lunch. On that evening, I and my friend had dinner at Shabu-Yo Sunway Carnival Mall in Butterworth. He stayed a night in Kulim.
On 28 September 2026, I reported for duty at PKD Kulim, where I received confirmation that I had been allocated to KK Taman Selasih, which has received full accreditation as a training site of the GCFM-ATFM. On 1 October 2026, I submitted the final manuscript of my research project to Malaysian Family Physician journal.
On 5 October 2026, I began working as a permanent MO at KK Taman Selasih. That marked the end of my 2026 summer break.
